Judith Woodcock - Corporate Services
There are strict controls in place over the collection of goods which the Trading Company must adhere to if it is to continue its work and continue its support of the Great North Air Ambulance Service. These controls are imposed by local authorities, which are responsible for issuing licences to anyone wishing to make such collections. Among Judith’s many roles, she has to make sure that the Trading Company teams are at all times operating within the terms of their licences. Councils also need to know how much money has been made in their area, and again, Judith must provide them with this information.
Through her efficient logging of the collections however, Judith has been able to claim back recycling credits from councils for diverting goods away from landfill sites. Last year alone, this raised more than £50,000. This underlines the environmental benefits of the Trading Company’s business. Landfill is expensive and wasteful, and through supporting the Trading Company, you are helping the environment, as well as keeping the helicopters of the charity in the skies.
Another aspect of Judith’s role is to organise school collections, where on a given day school children can bring in their clothing bags for the Trading Company. In return, the school receives a donation which goes into improving facilities for the children.
She also works to encourage businesses to take on the Trading Company’s shredding services, which she said operate at a fraction of the price of high profile shredding firms, while having the additional benefit of supporting the charity.
Judith started working for the trading company almost nine years ago as a distributor, before moving to the office. She enjoys a varied role which gives her a great insight into the broad range of what the company does.
“I love my work,” she says. “I get a lot of satisfaction from what we do, especially when we transfer
all the profits to the charity.”
